In 1900 a young Irish woman Lilian Nixon, impassioned by her belief in the need for education of women, had the courage and vision to come to a far –flung colony, Ceylon to found Ladies College at the behest of the Church Missionary Society. From humble beginnings with only two students, the school has grown to be a self supporting day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18 which is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a National private fee levying institution following the national curriculum.
