Upper School
The Upper School comprises the examination grades, namely Grades 10 and 11, where students prepare for the GCE Ordinary Level examination, and Grades 12 to 14, where students prepare for the GCE Advanced Level examination.
At Ladies’ College, we offer the GCE Ordinary Level examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka. Students may choose to follow their preferred medium of instruction in the Sinhala, Tamil, or Bilingual streams.
For the GCE Advanced Level, Ladies’ College provides students with a choice of examination boards. These include the local board conducted by the Department of Examinations, as well as two international boards: the Pearson Edexcel Examination Board and the Cambridge International Examination Board. These international pathways enable students to sit for the British Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and British Advanced Level (A Level) examinations.
Achieving academic excellence in every student, in keeping with individual aptitude, is one of the key objectives of the school. We strive to prepare our students to the best of their abilities and celebrate every achievement with pride. This commitment is reflected in the over 90% pass rate consistently achieved by the Upper School each year.
In the Upper School, students are encouraged to continue participating in extracurricular activities and sports. From Grade 12 onwards, students are entrusted with greater responsibilities and leadership roles. We firmly believe in the importance of balancing academic pursuits with co-curricular engagement and actively support our students in achieving success in both areas.
