Sinhala Day by the Sinhala Sahithya Sangamaya 2022
Sinhala Day being the highlight of the year for the Sinhala Sahithya Sangamaya was done alongside the inter house Sinhala Drama Competition under the theme of Sri Lankan folktales. Elevated by our very own Dance Troupe, Hewisi Band, Sinhala Choir, Sinhala Orchestra, the Hewisi Band of S. Thomas’ College, the Dance Troupe of Bishop’s College and the dancers of S. Thomas’ Prepatory School, Sinhala Day portrayed the aesthetic and historic value of our ancient folk stories.

As always, the highlight of the year for the Sinhala Sahithya Sangamaya is the Sinhala Day. This year the presentation was titled ‘Sithroo’ and highlighted the conflicting emotions and pressures felt by the children of today and the manner in which music and dance help liberate the mind and body. Participation by the enthusiastic members of the Sahithya Sangamaya, the Sinhala choir, dance troupe, Sinhala orchestra and the students of the primary school helped make the Sinhala Day a great success.
